Screamin' Jay Hawkins (July 18, 1929, Cleveland – February 12, 2000, Paris) was an American singer. 

Due to his macabre performances, in which smoke, bombs, fire and coffins were used, 

he is considered a shock rocker avant la lettre. I Put a Spell on You (1956) was his biggest and best-known hit.

In 1957 he released the frantic single "Frenzy", later covered by the Dutch psychobilly band Batmobile.
